California FBN & DBA Newspaper Publication
Already Filed Your California FBN? We'll Handle the Newspaper Publication.
Filing with the county clerk registers your business name. California law also requires a new or changed fictitious business name (DBA) statement to run in an adjudicated (court-approved) newspaper once a week for four weeks, starting within 45 days of the filing date, and the newspaper's affidavit of publication to be filed with the clerk. We arrange all of it for one flat price from $59.†

Questions About PublishProof
Is PublishProof a Legitimate FBN Publication Service?
Yes. PublishProof is an independent publication service operated by a California limited liability company, named in our terms of service. We place FBN notices only in newspapers adjudicated (court-approved) for the county where the statement was filed, and a person checks every order before it goes to the newspaper. You see your full flat price before paying, and payment is processed by Stripe, so we never see or store your card number. After the fourth weekly notice, the newspaper's affidavit of publication is filed with the county clerk and you get a copy by email. If your notice doesn't run, or runs with an error made by us or the newspaper, we re-publish it or refund you. Questions before you order? Contact us, and see our privacy policy for how your documents are handled.
Why Did I Get an Email From PublishProof About My FBN?
Because your fictitious business name statement is a public record. When an FBN statement is filed, the business name, file number, and filing date are recorded by the county clerk, and new or changed statements must then be published in a newspaper within 45 days. We use those public filing details to let owners know the publication step is still ahead and to fill in an order for them. PublishProof is an independent private business, not the county clerk or any government agency, and you are free to publish with any eligible newspaper or with us. If you've already published, or you'd rather not hear from us, use the opt-out link in the email and we won't email you about that filing again.
Is PublishProof a Government Agency?
No. PublishProof is an independent publication service run by a California small business. It is not a government agency and not a law firm, and it does not give legal advice. You can also arrange publication directly with an eligible newspaper. County filing fees are paid to the county and are separate from our price.
