How to File an FBN Statement in Placer County

Placer County fictitious business name statements are filed with the Placer County Clerk-Recorder. Here are the steps, with links to the county's official pages.

  1. Search the name. Use the county's official FBN name search to check whether the name is already on file.
  2. Complete the statement. Follow the Placer County Clerk-Recorder's FBN instructions, listing every business name and every registrant. Both offices are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., except county holidays. A P.O. box or mailbox number alone is not accepted as the business address. Checks are payable to the Placer County Clerk.
  3. File and pay the county fee. The county charges $30 (the clerk's fee, which can change — check the county page before filing) for one business name and one registrant. Each additional business name or owner on the same statement is $5.50.
